Somalia Reclaims Its Place in the StartupBlink Global Startup Ecosystem Index Top 100

StartupBlink introduced the Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2025, the most comprehensive analysis of the global startup economy to date. It features rankings for 1,400 cities and 110 countries, highlighting the winners in the global innovation economy. The report was built in cooperation with global data partners such as Crunchbase, Semrush, and more than 100 governments worldwide. 

Somalia reclaims its position among the global top 100 with a one-spot climb.

Insights on Somalia’s Startup Ecosystem for 2025:

  • Somalia re-enters the global top 100.

  • Somalia ranks 13th place in Africa and 4th in Eastern Africa.

  • Somalia has two cities in the global top 1,000, both showing upward momentum.

  • Both Mogadishu and Hargeisa record an ecosystem growth rate of over 24%.

  • In Eastern Africa, Mogadishu ranks 7th with a climb of one spot.

  • Hargeisa ranks 742nd, with a climb of 20 spots, continuing its third consecutive year of upward momentum in the Index.

  • Hargeisa advances by one spot to 8th in Eastern Africa.
