Uganda 2025 RIL Innovation Support Cohort | Call for Applications!
In the bid to support innovators and implementers to maximise their ability to deliver an impactful humanitarian response (refugee communities or vulnerable communities affected by crisis ), the Response Innovation Lab (RIL) is looking to support tech/AI innovations of local or national entities that are Ugandan led or refugee led, whose focus is on generating social impact in the areas of Education, Nutrition, sustainable and market-driven livelihoods, environment & energy, health & WASH for adolescents and youth. The entities should have been in operation for at least one year with traction. The training will be on the RIL humanitarian innovation toolkit whose efforts is to help innovators:
(1) Gathering evidence includes simplified theory of change, the qualitative feedback tool, the pilot data management tool, the humanitarian accountability and ethics checklist, the pivot diary. This will be led by the RIL team
(2) Consolidating the business model includes business canvas for humanitarian innovation, go-to-market strategies, fundraising and partnership strategy, Value for money/ return on investment. This will be led by United social ventures with support from the RIL team and Save the Children partnership and finance department.
(3) Communicating the innovation includes the innovation story tool and a pitch deck template. To be led by the RIL team
In addition the capacity building training will include safeguarding that will be led by Save the Children, Intellectual Property Rights to be led by Uganda Registration Service bureau supported by United social ventures and product certification by Uganda National Bureau of Standards. This will include a prize for the most innovative tech/AI solution (innovator) for the humanitarian response as part of the cohort.
A limited number of innovators will be selected to join the 2025 RIL Cohort. The capacity building sessions will take place during a 5 day bootcamp that will take place on 18th -22nd August 2025.
There is a possibility for innovators to be recommended for the seed grant scheme if their innovations are deemed ready. University students and recent graduates with tech solutions are encouraged to apply. Innovators who have already been part of the RIL trainings can not register.
