Congratulations, Khalid!
Great news from Khalid Hashi, an innovator we’ve been proud to support over the years!
The Obama Foundation has just announced that Khalid will join its eighth cohort of Obama Scholars — a group of 11 emerging leaders from around the world who will participate in the program at Columbia University in New York City.
Khalid is the founder and CEO of OGOW Health , a digital health organization advancing maternal, child, and nutrition outcomes through inclusive, human-centered innovation. Inspired by his experience helping his grandmother navigate the challenges of accessing care, he founded OGOW to strengthen health systems by digitizing medical records and providing timely, accessible information to providers and caregivers.
Through the Obama Scholars program, Khalid will build on this work by enhancing OGOW’s strategic sustainability, expanding its global reach, and integrating emerging tools such as AI to help create more resilient healthcare systems in underserved communities.
At Response Innovation Lab, we supported OGOW Health through our marketplace and by facilitating partnerships with humanitarian organizations. This collaboration piloted the OGOW Health system in two rural facilities, providing proof of concept and enabling its expansion to hundreds of maternal and child health clinics across Somalia, with support from across the ecosystem.
We are proud of Khalid’s well-deserved achievement — and we remain committed to supporting more innovators like him who are working to strengthen resilience in fragile contexts.
