OGOW is an electronic medical records (EMR) and practical management system designed specifically for hospitals and clinics in Somalia.
The Challenge
Reliable Medical record-keeping is almost non-existent in many hospitals across Somalia. OGOW EMR is designed to improve patient access to records, enhance understanding and adherence to healthcare policies, and build patient trust in health systems through innovative and community-centric methods.
The Solution
OGOW EMR is an award-winning provider of digital health solutions designed to improve health systems throughout Somalia. The platform offers desktop and mobile solutions that are customizable, easy-to-use, and in the Somali language, optimal for storing medical records, keeping an inventory, and organizing caregiver immunization. The platform not only provides a digital copy of child immunization records, but also includes a calendar schedule for adherence, educational materials, and a Q+A functionality. OGOW EMR’s work strengthens health systems and policy, enhances conditions that promote health, and builds community medical capacity to ensure equitable health opportunities for all.

Highlights of the 6-month Pilot:
OGOW EMR has reached 2 clinics with an estimated reach of 4,500 mother/child pairs.
Clinic A serving an IDP population of 20,000, while the other serving 19,000 people.
