A core mission of the Response Innovation Labs is to have an exit strategy as we being new labs. This means some labs work to transfer capacity of the lab locally, or some will sunset as their mandates have been achieved. Learn more about our labs and their histories below.

Puerto Rico
The Puerto Rico Response Innovation Lab concluded its Hurricane Maria response in June 2020. A few examples of the labs roles are the work with the NASA Disaster Program to transfer their databases, satellite imagery, and information available to lab, a contest for 6-12th grade students from all public and private schools on the island, and several convenings with a local start-up - Parallel 18 - and the insurance industry leaders to seek an expedient and unencumbered coverage solution without affecting the base-rate requirements and that would be allowed by local regulations.
