Workshop organized by Last Mile Climate, UNEP, Global Platform for Action (GPA) and the Ikea Foundation.
The following constitute 3 large scale multi-stakeholder "Climate Action Partnerships" in displacement contexts that this workshop will seek to further conceptualize, with the plan to announce them at the Global Refugee Forum in December 2023 as so-called "GRF Multi-Stakeholder Pledges" with implementation to take place over 4 years until 2027.
Solar-Electric Cooking > SOLCO (the Solar Electric Cooking Partnership for Displacement Contexts) will be the refugee-inclusion initiative of the Global Electric Cooking Coalition (GeCCo) that will be launched at COP28 in Nov. The ambition is to transition a min. of 250.000 households in refugee hosting districts from firewood/charcoal to solar e-cooking, through a market-based approach and leveraging an estimated 100 million USD in asset-financing.
Waste Management > Business models for circular waste management at scale in displacement settings. Building on best practices and working in collaboration with expert Waste NGOs and private sector solutions, the details of the scope of this partnership remains to be refined, but the ambition is to ensure millions of households in refugee hosting areas have improved access to circular waste management through self-sustainable business models that create green jobs.
EcoAdapt > Nature-based solutions and innovative financing towards reforestation in refugee hosting areas. The ambition is to scale up best practices for reforestation that uses innovative financing and self-sustainable business models.
