The Sinza Project

Awareness animated video

The Sinza project produced an animated video to create awareness of the COVID-19 pandemic in three languages, English, Luganda, and Runyatira. This was aimed at supporting adherence to preventive measures for COVID-19 by capturing health education into simple, interactive, visual formats that could easily be understood by individuals without formal education. This video was circulated on social media platforms and played on local TV stations like UBC and TV West.

The video aimed at minimizing false perceptions arising from the novel disease and empowering communities with the hope that they can thrive through the pandemic by adhering to preventive measures. The Sinza project promotes a family approach to preventive health care. Therefore, the target audience for the COVID video was children, parents, and caregivers in a semi-urban Ugandan homestead. The content was customized to the common cultural features to make the message easily understandable and relatable.
