Support

The support Function

Building capacity to achieve success.

The Response Innovation Lab supports innovators and implementers to maximize their ability to deliver successful innovations in a specific humanitarian context. This includes connecting actors to external capacity-building resources and expertise to improve design and management skills and directly providing specialized tools and trainings to facilitate innovation in a humanitarian context. The labs also provide free access to RIL M&E tools for evaluating the impact of innovations, advice on ethics in humanitarian innovation and, when funding allows, provide seed funding to test prototypes or conduct pilots.

Additionally, support is offered to private-sector partners and industry networks around developing innovations for humanitarian settings. Our trainings offer unique industry and context specific guidance on humanitarian ethics and principles.

The Response Innovation Lab also supports global or local humanitarian calls that seek to connect with local ecosystems. In doing so, the Response Innovation Lab utilizes ecosystem maps, developed in the Convene function, to reach out and engage with the ecosystem. By supporting applicants in the process, and coordinating with the donors and agencies involved, RIL can make sure that both the local and global side of the call are able to engage, and receive the desired outputs.
